So that’s January done, who’s still going strong with their New Year Resolutions? We’ve definitely faltered here …
Healthy eating
One of the most common promises is we will eat healthier and eat better. It’s a great time at University to put this into practice. You have total autonomy over your diet and the food you eat plus you will be open to new experiences and influences. However you just might not feel you have the budget.
It’s so important to eat good, sustainable, nutritious food that will fuel you through your social life and studies. And any habits you start now will last way beyond University days.
Some top tips from us to make the most out of your budget and start some healthy eating habits today:
Meal plan for the week, write a shopping list so you can budget and cut down on snacks and things that will go to waste. By looking at everything you will be eating for the week it will really concentrate your mind to make healthier choices.
Shop smart – try to downshift on brands, stock up on offers and shop around for the best deals.
Bulk cook so you can freeze easy-to-grab dinners when you are in a rush.
Take leftovers for healthy lunches so you don’t spend money when out, or resort to fast food and treats.
Fresh fruit and veg is great, but don’t shy away from frozen if it means that less food will go to waste and you are more inclined to reach for a healthy option.
